Meet Sam

Hi there! I’m Sam. I’m running to represent Ward 2 on City Council because I love Mission. That love is why I got involved on the Parks, Recreation, + Tree Commission. In that role, I witnessed firsthand how public engagement led to smart investment in Mohawk and Water Works Parks. Those parks are shining examples of how public feedback can bring meaningful, positive change to Mission’s neighborhoods.

I grew up in northeast Johnson County. After earning my degree from the University of Kansas, I moved back to the area where I reconnected with my future wife Alyson. We shared our first kiss at Sully’s Pub. A year later, with family and friends watching from the window, I proposed to her outside Sully’s front door. Five months after that, we became Mission homeowners, where we currently live with our one year-old daughter Lucille and dog Luna.

By day, I am a Senior Project Manager for a family owned textile manufacturing plant in North Kansas City, specializing in window treatments for the hospitality space. I have been with my company for nine years. In that time, I have learned the importance of a timeline, a budget, and a stakeholder’s expectations and the need to balance all three when making important decisions.

I believe City Council must prioritize the type of leadership that values citizen engagement and I think I’m the right person for the job. If you love Mission and want thoughtful, collaborative leadership, I would be honored to have your support.
